Weekly Roundup – Jianli Yang, Bas Lansdorp, Michael Mann

Happy Wednesday! Let’s see what our speakers are up to this week:

Jianli Yang, Chinese dissident/democracy activist, spoke at the United Nations last week, urging the UN to not admit China to the Human Rights Council. Having spent the better part of five years in a Chinese prison for his activism, Dr. Yang knows of what he speaks.

Bas Lansdorp, CEO of the Mars One project, told CNN this week that “we’re going to live on Mars in 2027”. Robert Browning said “A man’s reach should exceed his grasp/or what’s a Heaven for”.  Allowing for a more inclusive pronoun, this remains true.

Our best wishes and concerns go out to the people in the Southeast US who are still suffering the effects of Hurricane Matthew.  This mega-storm is just the beginning, according to climatologist Michael Mann, as warming ocean waters supply the energy to these huge storms.

And those are the stories for this week! Be sure to follow us on Facebook and Twitter to keep up with the latest from all of our speakers, scientists and change makers!
